Secret for healthy skin – Skincare Tips from Dermatologist
Skin is not just a visible outer layer. Skin is the largest organ of the human body. Skincare is essential to keep skin healthy and nourished.
Tips to get healthy and glowing skin for everyone
-
Wash your face –
Gentle cleansing is very necessary to remove dirt, sweat, and to unclog pores on skin.
- How to wash face?
- Wet your face with lukewarm water, and with the help of your fingertips, apply cleanser suitable for your skin type.
- Rinse your face with lukewarm water and gently pat your face dry with a clean, soft towel.
- Do not scrub your face too often.
- Wash your face in the morning, night, and after sweating heavily.
-
Apply moisturizer –
Moisturize your skin every time after washing the face. Use moisturizer based on your skin type. For oily skin – a light, water-based, non-comedogenic moisturizer that does not clog pores on the skin is good. For dry skin – hydrating cream-based moisturizer is good. Consult a dermatologist for sensitive skin, and get moisturizers and products suitable for your skin.
-
Apply sunscreen–
Sunscreen can slow down aging. They help prevent skin cancer, as well. Do apply sunscreen regularly, even if you are at home and in cloudy days as well. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 (or higher). Repeat applying sunscreen every 3 hours.
-
Use skincare products as per your skin type and skin’s need–
You may have either Oily, Normal, Dry, Combination, or Sensitive skin. Any skincare product would best suit you only when you know your skin type and use products accordingly. (Read our previous blog on ‘Skincare Routine’ to know your skin type and skincare products).
-
Do not smoke–
Smoking can fasten the speed with which you age. It can also delay wound healing. Some skin diseases also worsen when you smoke.
-
Eat healthy–
Drink lots of water and stay hydrated. Dry, dehydrated skin appears dull and is more prone to develop allergies, fine lines, and wrinkles. Dark leafy green vegetables, carrots, avocado, and tomatoes are rich in micronutrients and antioxidants, which helps fight skin aging and sun damage.
-
Exercise and meditate regularly–
Exercise and meditation helps in lowering stress in body and mind. Managing stress can help in many skin conditions like acne, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, and rosacea, which may aggravate or start for the first time when the person feels stressed.
-
Do see a dermatologist if you are not happy with something in your skin–
Dermatologists are the experts who diagnose and treat many different skin conditions. Do not apply any over the counter product when you have any skin disease or infection, pigmentation on face or other parts of the body and sensitive skin.
